Things continue to take a turn for the worse for John Barrowman.
Last week, the actor was accused of repeatedly exposing himself to cast and crew members while working on Doctor Who as well as its spinoff series Torchwood. Then her future in the UK reality show Dancing on Ice appeared to be uncertain.
And now it is reported that the 54-year-old gay actor has been cut from the upcoming immersive theater production Doctor Who: Time Fracture in light of the allegations.
The Dr Who and Torchwood crew claim that in the 2000s, Barrowman exposed himself on several occasions, apparently as a joke.
They described it as a “diversion” rather than sexually predatory behavior.
Still, it’s not a good look from an HR perspective, or any perspective for that matter.
Barrowman admitted to The Guardian what he described as “silliness” and “fiery demeanor … always meant in good humor to entertain his colleagues on set and behind the scenes.”
Dr. Who: Time Fractures is set to debut in London on May 26 and was initially billed to feature Barrowman in a pre-recorded segment.
Production company, Immersive Everywhere, said in a statement, “Immersive Everywhere has made the decision to remove [Barrowman’s] pre-recording of Doctor Who: Time Fracture.
“We will continue to include content that pays homage to the brilliant Torchwood show so as not to disappoint its fans, and we are working on an exciting storyline to be announced shortly.”
Speaking to the Guardian, former colleague Monica (who did not provide her last name for the sake of anonymity) said: “Sometimes he would call me in his dressing room, and I knock on the phone. door and he was like, ‘Oh, look at that,’ and he would just have his willy outside, standing in the doorway. It was kind of accepted that this was his thing.
“It was just really uncomfortable,” she added.
In his new statement last week, Barrowman said that “since my apologies in November 2008, my understanding and demeanor have also changed.”
