Matt Gaetz once again dramatically fails to try to divert attention from his teen sex trafficking scandal

Matt Gaetz really, really, really wants people to forget about this whole federal child sex trafficking investigation that he ended up in and is doing everything he can to try to distract himself from it.

His last effort was to call for another insurgency, since the first went so well. Either that or a mass shooting in Silicon Valley. Whatever the preference of his supporters.

Speaking on an “American First” tour of Georgia yesterday, the 38-year-old spoke out against tech companies and urged his subscribers to stand up against “internet room monitors” by shooting them, if necessary.

“Silicon Valley cannot cancel this movement, or this rally, or this member of Congress,” he said. “We have a Second Amendment in this country, and I think we have an obligation to use it!”

The remarks came just a day after a gunman fired 39 shots and killed eight people on the property of the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority in San Jose, California.

Gaetz echoed his pro gun / killing people sentiment again this morning on Twitter, mistakenly saying, “The Second Amendment is not about hunting, recreation or sports. The second amendment concerns the ability to maintain an armed rebellion against the government among the population if it becomes necessary. I hope it never will.

The second amendment does not concern hunting, recreation or sports.

The second amendment concerns the ability to maintain an armed rebellion against the government among the population if it becomes necessary.

I hope it never will.

All of this is clearly just another clumsy attempt to try and deflect the headlines from her teenage sex scandal and move on.

The anti-gay lawmaker is accused of traveling with a high school student to the Bahamas and paying her for sex in 2017. Federal investigators are said to have almost finished collecting evidence against him after his former winger and ex-girlfriend agreed to cooperate with detectives.

Gaetz, who has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing, may have hoped that making inflammatory remarks about guns and insurgencies would do the trick and make people forget. Unfortunately for him, this is not the case.

Here is how folx reacts to his tweet …

This is absolutely not what it is. BTW, how is the DOJ investigation going? Did you receive a target letter, Rick?

Are you kidding me? How far are you going to push this ?!

Like a rebellion against a government official who rapes children? THAT kind of rebellion? Or just a rebellion against a government official who wants to help feed the poor, provide health care to citizens and take care of the environment?

When the FBI raids your house, you better be compliant.

What do we do with pedophiles in government, Matt?

Hey. Just stop to remind yourself that at the end of the day people won’t pick up arms to protect you from sex trafficking charges.
