BIOGRAPHY OF MILOS FORMAN
Film director. When he was nine, his parents were arrested by the Gestapo and deported. Entrusted to relatives, while attending the school of war orphans he discovered and began to love the comedies of Chaplin and Keaton and the westerns of John Ford. He enrolled in the film department of the University of Prague and after graduation wrote a screenplay and shot two shorts. In 1963 he directed his first film, “Ace of Spades”, which achieved great success in several festivals. The next two films, “The Love of a Blonde” (1965), and “Firefighters” (1967) won an Oscar nomination for best foreign film. After the invasion of the USSR, he moved to New York and directed “Taking Off” (1971), which won the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival. In 1975 he made “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”, which won five Academy Awards. He later shoots the film version of the musical “Hair” (1979) and “Ragtime” (1981). In 1984, with “Amadeus” he won eight Oscars. In 1989 it is “Valmont”.
