High school gay drama Love, Victor is back for season 2 – and the show is touching on more mature topics, now that it’s gone from family-friendly Disney + to adult Hulu.
In case this show isn’t on your radar, Love, Victor is a spin-off from the movie Love, Simon that focuses on fellow Creekwood student Victor Salazar (Michael Cimino) as he explores his sexuality.
And based on Reddit’s reactions, a lot of people love the show and its portrayal, while others are less inclined (while still enjoying the portrayal).

Reddit user u / Sameflames begged r / askgaybros forum users to “please watch Love, Victor” even though he’s only playing in the background, so that Hulu renews the series for more seasons.
“The show actually turns out to be a lot better than I expected,” u / Sameflames wrote. “The character redemptions are there. The representation is there. The story is… cliché… but I swear it’s worth a look.
Commenters on the post have agreed, although they’re not exactly in the target demo. “I’m really happy that young gays have a show they can relate to, which (hopefully) doesn’t end in painful tragedy either,” one wrote.
Another commented, “I’m glad it’s there, but I’m well past the age of worrying about high school-centric shows. I’ve seen about five episodes of season 1, but the show represents progress in my eyes because it looks like a mainstream show, which has a gay main character.
Others were all in it. “I recently watched season 1 and now [I’m] in season 2, and I have to say I was expecting a really scary sight. I hardly ever like any gay presentation in shows and movies, but this one has succeeded, ”one user said.
Another said: “I am extremely impressed with Season 2. They tackle a variety of issues that I had no idea about.”
In another post on the same forum, however, user u / Kunthegreat wondered if anyone else was making their way through Love, Victor. “I don’t know if it’s a teen show, but it’s horrible as hell. And I’m 23, ”u / Kunthegreat wrote. “Does anyone over there feel the same?”

One commenter on this thread wrote, “Well I’m 18 and find almost all the scenes very embarrassing. And then there’s a third post, titled “Love, Victor is a little cranky”.
“I don’t know why, but I feel like this story beats a dead horse mulling over a young gay story and coming out that is super stereotypical,” u / sciencekidlol wrote in it. “I have the impression that they need more autonomous and less victimized homosexuals? … I feel like the creators of the show are trying to portray homosexuality in high school as a very negative experience and focus on the victim nature of coming out and being gay.
