BIOGRAPHY OF ALESSIO BONI
For Alessio Boni, Born on 4th July 1966 in Samico, in the province of Bergamo, acting was not the first choice, in fact at the age of fourteen he worked as a tiler with his father and later served for about a year and a half in the State Police. Eager to gain experience, Boni moved to San Diego, California at the age of twenty, where he ventured into various jobs to support himself, from babysitting to pony express. On his return to Italy, unsure of what to do, he starts working as an entertainer in a tourist village. In 1988 he entered the world of entertainment, first lending himself to photo novels and then dedicating himself to the theater. Two years later he made his film debut with The magician (1990), alongside Anthony Quinn, in the meantime, however, he began studying acting and graduated in 1992 from the National Academy of Dramatic Art. His immature technique is perfected on stage with Luca Ronconi and with the first work experiences, like the film Where are you? I am here (1993) by Liliana Cavani, in which he appears in a small role. In 1995 he returns to America, this time in Los Angeles, to follow some acting courses in English, but there is not much left, the Italian theater acclaims him and returns to the boot to take part in great plays, such as L’avaro sotto la regia of Giorgio Strehler.
During the nineties he dedicates little to cinema and more to TV, where he takes part in several series that allow him to enter the home of the Italians and soon become familiar to the audience of the cathode ray tube. It is in these years that Boni enters the cast of fiction Spell 3 is 4 (2000) enjoying great success with the character of Marco Oberon and winning the hearts of many Italians. At the cinema the big moment comes with the lead role together with Luigi Lo Cascio neither The best youth (2003) of Marco Tullio Giordana, film with which he won the Silver Ribbon as Best Actor. From this moment on, Boni’s acting career underwent a surge and he was hired both in jobs of a certain importance in which he covers a secondary role, such as The beast in the heart (2005) of Cristina Comencini or Crazy blood (2008) also by Marco Tullio Giordana, who in films in which he plays the role of the main character, such as Goodbye love, bye (2006) – with which he won the Golden Globe – o Accomplices of silence (2009).
With the miniseries on TV he is offered several literary roles and this is how Boni is the grumpy Heathcliff in Wuthering Heights (2004), Prince Andrei Bolkonsky in War and peace (2007) and widower Maxim de Winter of Rebecca, the first wife (2008). In addition to these bookish-themed, the Bergamo actor plays two great artists, the painter Michelangelo Merisi in Caravaggio (2008) and the composer of the Tosca in Puccini (2009). He returns to make his fans happy, playing the brother of Neri Marcorè in the second season of the hit series All crazy for love (2010). At the cinema he receives his first international role with The Tourist (2010), in which he supports Johnny Depp is Angelina Jolie. Later he continues to work in Italy, where he can range from comedy in Maldamore (2014), the drama In a beautiful place (2015), the thrilling de The girl in the fog (2017) and the adventure of Agadah (2017). In addition to the latter two, 2017 has another film in store for him Breathe of Alfredo Fiorillo, with which he returns to his native lands near Lake Iseo.
