BIOGRAPHY OF ANTOINE FUQUA

Film director. Born in 1966, married since 1999 to actress Lela Rochon, he studied engineering and played basketball at West Virginia University before moving to New York in 1987 to shoot music videos. After making his debut with the short film ‘Exit’, he has worked extensively in the world of music with artists such as ‘Arrested Development’, ‘Prince’, ‘Stevie Wonder’ and ‘Toni Braxton’. He received an MTV Award Nomination for Best Rap Video for ‘Heavy D & the Boyz’. He has won two ‘Music Video Production Awards’ for his work with rapper Coolio and with the group ‘Sinclair Tenebaum Olesiuk’. He got noticed by Hollywood with a short presentation of the film ‘Dangerous Mind’, winner of an MTV Award and two ‘Music Video Productions’. He made his feature film directorial debut with ‘The Replacement Killers’ (1998) which was followed in 2000 by the yellow comedy ‘Bait – L’Esca’. In 2001 he signed ‘Training Day’. To his credit Fuqua also has a television appearance on the show ‘Intimate Portrait: Lela Rochon’ (2001), where he played himself.
