‘Call me by your name’ is trending and you’ll never really guess why

Lil Nas X has been plugging in their new single, “Call Me By Your Name,” since July of last year, and now that it’s days away, their marketing campaign has taken a new approach.

Posting on Twitter, Nas X alerted fans:

“MONTERO (CMBYN) RELEASES THIS FRIDAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I donate $ 100,000 of Bitcoin !!! Quote this with your $ cashtag and #CMBYN and maybe I could give you a few.

That’s right – Lil Nas X is paying Bitcoin fans who promote his new single, which drops on March 26.

According to fans who have received funding, the musician is giving away .0001 coins at a time, or around $ 55 as of today.

This unconventional move changed the #CMBYN hashtag on Twitter, which we assume was the point.

It’s definitely a way to get people talking!
