Backed by a star-studded celebrity cast, including era comedic heavy hitters such as Cameron Diaz, Eddie Murphy and Mike Myers, the film was a smash hit when released in May 2001.
Over the years, the film franchise – which includes sequels, spinoffs, specials, and video games – has become a real force in pop culture. The original film remains an oft-cited comedy classic to this day.
