Best Supporting Actor
Sacha Baron Cohen (“The Chicago 7 Trial”)
Daniel Kaluuya (“Judas and the Black Messiah”)
Leslie Odom, Jr. (“One Night in Miami”)
Paul Raci (“Sound of Metal”)
LaKeith Stanfield (“Judas and the Black Messiah”)
At the start of the race, we would have predicted that Leslie Odom would have finished her job given her wonderful job in One night in Miami and the popularity of Hamilton Last year. His momentum, with that of One night in Miami (our pick for best of the year), has slowed down considerably at this point. The inclusion of Raci here is a victory in itself, while Cohen’s best shot to win is probably in the Scenario category (more on that later). That leaves Stanfield, which could cause an upheaval, although the value sure is Kaluuya who won a Golden Globe and a SAG award. This being his second nod – and given his victories at several other big awards – look for him to win.
Who will win: Daniel Kaluuya
Who Should Win: Leslie Odom, Jr.
