DANNY GLOVER BIOGRAPHY
Actor. The first of five siblings, his childhood is quite difficult due to the difficult economic situation of the family: his parents both work at the American Post Office, but to make it to the end of the month they must take advantage of the help of social services. However, Glover has a good memory of his childhood years, thanks to the strong bond with his parents who transmit to him the value of family and respect for others. From an early age, however, dyslexia and considerable height make him uncomfortable. At the age of sixteen, he also suffers from seizures and has to give up playing football. In spite of all his problems, he graduates from San Francisco State College and does not close in on himself. In 1965 he enrolled at San Francisco University: he joined the Black Panthers and the Black Students Union, then in 1968 he moved to a municipality with some members. Since 1975, always alongside his political and voluntary activities, he begins to act. The same year he marries Asake Bomani with whom he has a daughter. Begins to attend the Black Actors’ Workshop, at the American Conservatory Theater, participating in small local productions. By now he has understood what his path is. He decides to move to Los Angeles with his family to act in earnest. First he hits the stages of Off-Broadway theaters then begins with small roles in television series such as “Hill Street Day and Night” (1979). In the same year he landed on the big screen in the film “Escape from Alcatraz” with Clint Eastwood. In 1985 he ventured into the western genre with “Silverado”, which sees him starring together with a young Kevin Costner. In the same year he participated in the drama “The Color Purple” by Steven Spielberg. But the role he is most remembered for is that of Sergeant Roger Murtaugh, companion in the adventures of a wild Mel Gibson in “Lethal Weapon” (1987). The film is so successful that it convinces the producers to make three sequels, in which the Glover-Gibson duo is always re-proposed. Alongside his film career, the actor also continued that of a civil rights activist and in 1998, just when “Lethal Weapon 4” was released, he was appointed Ambassador to the United Nations for the Development Program. After the experience with Gibson he continues to exploit his comic streak as in the successful film “The Tenenbaum” (2001). He is currently very busy defending ethnic minorities in the United States.
