BIOGRAPHY OF DAVID GILMOUR

David Jon Gilmour, CBE (Cambridge, 6 March 1946) is a British singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, composer and record producer. From 1968 to 1995 he was the guitarist and singer of the historic English group Pink Floyd, with which he became one of the most influential and famous guitarists in rock. In addition to his work with Pink Floyd, Gilmour has worked as a record producer for many artists, embarked on a successful solo career and participated as an active member of various charitable organizations. In 2003 he was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for his contributions in the field of music and his philanthropy. In 2009 Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge and Chelmsford decided to award David Gilmour the Laurea Honoris Causa for his outstanding contributions to music as a writer, performer and innovator.
