BIOGRAPHY OF DAVID THEWLIS
David Thewlis is born David Wheeler the March 20, 1963 in Blackpool, Lancashire, where he graduated from Highfield High School in 1984. Although he had concentrated heavily on music in his teens, he enrolled at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. He made his debut on the small screen, participating in an episode of the fourth season of Only Fools and Horses (1985) as a young aspiring musician, followed by episodes of other sitcoms.
In 1987 he starred in the short film The Short & Curlies of Mike Leigh and at the end of the 80s he made his debut in the cinema appearing in some films, but it is with Leigh that he receives the leading role in Naked – Naked, a comedy-drama presented in competition at the 46th Cannes Film Festival, where Thewlis won the award for Best Male Performance.
