BIOGRAPHY OF FABRIZIO GIFUNI
Actor. Son of the general secretary of the Quirinale Gaetano Gifuni. In 1992 he graduated from the Academy of Dramatic Art ‘Silvio D’Amico’, the following year he made his debut in the theater in Euripides’ ‘Elettra’, directed by Massimo Castri. He then continued his theatrical career with directors such as Sepe and Terzopoulos, and participated in numerous radio productions (‘The new world’ by Huxley, ‘The poor princess’ by Ostrovski). In 1996 he made his debut in the cinema with ‘La bruttina mationata’ by Anna Di Francisca, but it was in 2000 that he made himself known as the protagonist of “Qui è non il Paradiso” by Gianluca Tavarelli. In the same year he acted alongside Sonia Bergamasco, who becomes his wife, in ‘L’amore Probably’, directed by Giuseppe Bertolucci. In 2001 Ridley Scott included him in the cast of the international production ‘Hannibal’. The success with the public, however, comes in 2002 when he is one of the protagonists of the television film ‘The best of youth’ by Marco Tullio Giordana, for which the entire male cast (in addition to the female one) wins the 2004 Silver Ribbon. 2003 is one of the “masters” who holds “cinema lessons” at the Taormina FilmFest, together with Nichetti, Melato, Torre, Ozpetck, and illustrates “Sole in the eyes”. In 2005 he was very successful in the role of De Gasperi in the fiction for Raiuno directed by Liliana Cavani, in which his wife Sonia Bergamasco plays the wife of the Italian statesman.
