BIOGRAPHY OF FARRAH FAWCETT

Actress. Daughter of James Fawcett and Pauline Evans, in the early 1960s she graduated in Microbiology at the University of Austin where, thanks to her beauty and statuesque physique, she is the most voted in a beauty contest by her fellow students. Noticed by an agent who pushes her into show business, she moves to Los Angels and begins appearing in some advertising campaigns and TV series. His career took a decidedly lucky turn thanks to the meeting, in 1968, with actor Lee Majors, the famous face of TV for the hit series “The Big Valley” and “The Six Million Dollar Man”, who will become her husband in 1973. The various appearances on the small screen, the relationship with the famous actor, a good performance in the film “The Myra Breckinridge Case” (1970, based on the novel by Gore Vidal and directed by Michael Sarne) and a poster that sells millions of copies, in which she exhibits a stunning physique wearing a red bathing suit, catching the attention of TV’s ‘King Midas’ Aaron Spelling. The producer, in fact, chooses her together with Jaclyn Smith and Kate Jackson to interpret the famous trio of athletic, sexy and charming private detectives from the “Charlie’s Angels” series. Despite the success of the series – which will last for five seasons and which will be paid tribute with two film transpositions (2000 and 2003, directed by McG and with Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, Lucy Liu and Bill Murray in the main roles) – his presence in the cast lasts only a year and her role is then entrusted to Cheryl Ladd. Among the main reasons that turned to Hollywood to justify his abandonment, it seems there was the disappointment of Lee Major for the long absences from home of the actress, engaged for hours and days in the filming, but the most malicious also spoke of jealousy on the part of the spouse for the growing popularity of his wife. To please her husband, Farrah begins to devote herself to their production company, Fawcett-Majors Productions, active between 1978 and 1979, and then, trying to exploit the success achieved thanks to the small screen, tries to break into the cinema. He will play some films that will not have great luck, however, except for “The Craziest Race in America” (1981, opposite Burt Rynolds) and “The Apostle” (1997), directed and starring Robert Duvall. He will have a better fate with the interpretation of the TV films “Autopsy of a Crime” (1984, by Robert Greenwald) and “Small Sacrifices” (1989, by David Greene). Both films will be nominated for an Emmy Award. In addition, Greenwald’s film, based on a true story, raises awareness of the cause of family mistreatment of women. The fact is, however, that after her departure from the “Charlie’s Angels” series, which also cost her a court case, her popularity is fueled above all by the magazines (in ’95 she will shock her fans with an appearance in the magazine ” Playboy “) and the advertising campaigns for hair products that she has been testimonial for for years thanks to her beautiful hair. In 1979 she separated from Lee Majors (from whom she officially divorced in 1982) and in the early 1980s she began a long relationship with actor Ryan O’Neal. The two will live together until 1997 and will also have a son, Redmond. They will get back together after the actress’s stormy relationship with producer James Orr, which ended in a legal battle over her mistreatment for refusing to marry him. O’Neal remains with her until her death at the age of 62 after a long battle with colon cancer. The long ordeal faced by the actress was witnessed by her will through a documentary that caused a lot of controversy when it was broadcast on television. Despite this Farrah wanted to be revived until the last moments of life. His death occurred before the two actors were able to fulfill the desire to celebrate their wedding.
