BIOGRAPHY OF GIORGIO FALETTI
Comedian, singer, painter and writer. Graduated in law, after his apprenticeship as a stand-up comedian at the historic Derby in Milan – he made himself known to the general public in the early Eighties thanks to Antonio Ricci’s cult show “Drive In”, where he will be remembered for the characterization of the security guard Vito Catozzo. In 1982 he wrote the story and screenplay of “Grunt!”, A comedy film by Andy Luotto in which he participated as an actor. In the same year is the screenplay for “We thank the Puglia region for providing us with the Milanese”, directed by Mariano Laurenti. In 1988 he was part of the cast of “Colletti bianchi” directed by Bruno Contini, while in 1994 he starred in “Miracolo italiano” by Enrico Oldoini. In 1998 it was the turn of “Elvjs & Merilijn”, while in 2002 he took part in the cast of “Come back” by Renzo Badolisani. He found the general public in 2005, thanks to the role of Professor Antonio Martinelli in the very successful “Night before the exams” by Fausto Brizzi, then in 2007 Marco Martani entrusted him with the characterization of a shady criminal in “Reinforced concrete”. The following year he is in the cast of the sci-fi comedy “Capitan Basilico”, while in 2009 he is called by Giuseppe Tornatore for the choral “Baarìa”. Over the years, however, he has also made his way in the musical field: in 1990 he released his first album as a singer, “Desperate but not serious”. In 1992 he participated for the first time at the Sanremo Festival with “Rumba di tango” alongside Orietta Berti. The real success, however, came two years later, in 1994, when he ranked second at the Ariston with “Signor tenente”, a spoken piece inspired by the massacres of Capaci and via D’Amelio which in that edition also won the prize of criticism. Subsequently, the album “Come un cartoon” goes platinum. In ’95 he returned to the Festival with “The absurd job” and with “Giovane vecchio cuore”, a song sung by Gigliola Cinquetti. In the following years he wrote pieces for Fiordaliso, Branduardi, Milva, Masini and Mina. Finally, in the last 15 years, he has dedicated himself to theater and literature: the novel “I kill”, published in 2002, sold more than 4 million copies and, in 2005, the author received the De Sica Prize for the literature. He will then write “Nonsense” (2009) and “From when to now” (2012), an autobiography accompanied by two music CDs, then staged with the show “Nude and raw”. He died at the age of 63 struck down by a serious illness.
