Iggy Azalea has expressed support for Britney Spears and has spoken candidly about her experience working with her father, Jamie Spears.
On Wednesday, June 30, Iggy shared a post on social media to support Britney in her fight to have Jamie removed as co-curator. Iggy called Jamie’s removal “basic human decency” and that keeping him should be “illegal.”
In 2015, Iggy and Britney collaborated on the single “Pretty Girls”. Meanwhile, Iggy “personally witnessed” behavior similar to what Britney described in court during her guardianship hearing last week.
“I just want to support her and tell the world that she is exaggerating and not lying,” Azalea wrote. “I saw her restricted to the weirdest and most insignificant things: like the number of sodas she was allowed to drink. Why is it even necessary?
According to Iggy, he used a tactic similar to the one he used for Britney during his residency in Las Vegas. Moments before the duo’s 2015 Billboard Music Awards performance, Jamie allegedly forced Iggy to sign a nondisclosure agreement by refusing to let her on stage if she didn’t.
“Jamie Spears has a habit of making people sign documents under duress, it seems, and Britney Spears should not be forced to coexist with this man when she made it clear that this is having a negative impact on his sanity. This is not at all correct, “she concluded.
During last week’s hearing, Judge Brenda Penny rejected Britney’s request to remove her father from his role as financial co-curator. At the moment, he is not acting like his personal curator. He resigned this post in September 2019 and was replaced by longtime assistant Jodi Montgomery.
