BIOGRAPHY OF JEFFREY DEAN MORGAN
Jeffrey Dean Morgan is born the April 22, 1966 in Seattle, Washington, where he spent his entire period of studies. During the years of high school he became passionate about sports, distinguishing himself above all in basketball, managing to obtain the role of captain and carrying on his sporting commitment even during college, until an injury forced him to leave. Having lost all hope of a sporting career, Morgan pursues more artistic hobbies, such as painting and writing. After his academic studies, he starts working in the field of corporate graphics, but this is not yet his way; in fact, after having visited Los Angeles, he is fascinated by it and decides to attempt an acting career.
The debut comes straight from the big screen with Uncaged (1991) of Lisa Hunt, followed by small roles both in cinema and on TV, which will characterize the entire decade of the nineties and the beginning of his career. Among these, the interpretation of Dr. Edward Marcase in the series certainly stands out The Burning Zone (1996). From 1999 to 2004 his film commitments suffer a setback, it seems that the actor focuses more on television, appearing in sporadic episodes of some important series, such as CSI – Crime scene (2003) and The OC (2004). He will return to the cinema in 2004 with Dead & Breakfast is Six – The corporation, but they are still marginal parts, which do not put him in the spotlight.
The success he craves so much, the actor receives it from TV, thanks to two successful series: he enters the cast of Supernatural (2005), where he plays the recurring character of John Winchester (father of the two main brothers), then in that of Grey’s Anatomy (2006) as Izzie’s beloved heart patient Denny Duquette. The work commitments of the two roles, however, soon collide and Morgan has to get by to be able to appear in both dramas.
The fame given to him by TV puts him under the dazzling eyes of the world of Hollywood and finally in 2007 the actor receives an important role in a film, it is that of the deceased husband of PS I Love You (2007) of Richard LaGravenese, where it shares the set with Hilary Swank is Gerard Butler. He is the spouse of the couple also in One husband too many (2008), sentimental comedy with Uma Thurman is Colin Firth. Having achieved a certain fame, in the following years he ventured into various genres, such as cinecomic Watchmen (2009) of Zack Snyder, where he plays the role of Il Comico, and the musical Woodstock Motel (2009) of Ang Lee, film focused on the events that took place during the Rock Festival, in which Morgan is one of the opponents of the event. However, action and thrilling seem to be the right ones for him, as demonstrated by his participation in the years following The Losers (2010), The Resident (2011) and The swamps of death (2011).
From thrill to thrill in 2011 he landed in horror with The Possession (2012), although thrillers are still its strong point on the big screen, such as Bus 657 (2015) and Premonitions (2015), flanked by a massive dose of westerns, of which Jonah Hex (2010) and The Salvation (2014) are some examples. It is with this last role, that of the criminal Delarue, that he falls perfectly into the part of the villain, so much so that he becomes a milestone in his career, when he enters the cast The Walking Dead (2016) in the role of Negan, the violent and mentally unstable leader of the Saviors. In 2016 it appears briefly in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in the role of Thomas Wayne, father of the more famous Bruce, while in 2018 he shares the set with Dwayne Johnson in Rampage – Animal fury, films between sci-fi and action movies.
