BIOGRAPHY OF KATHY BATES
Kathy Bates has received many awards for her work in the theater, film and television fields. She won the Academy Award® and Golden Globe for her performance as the insane admirer, Annie Wilkes, in the hit 1990 film Misery Must Not Die, directed by Rob Reiner and based on the Stephen King novel. In 1999, he received Academy Award®, Golden Globe and BAFTA nominations and won the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award® and Critics Choice Award for his performance in Mike Nichols’ The Colors of Victory. Bates recently earned her third Academy Award® nomination for her performance in Alexander Payne’s “About Schmidt,” for which she also earned Golden Globe and SAG Award nominations and won the National Board. of Review Award for Best Supporting Actress.
