BIOGRAPHY OF MARCO TULLIO GIORDANA
Film director. In 1977 he took part in the making of Roberto Faenza’s editing film “Forza Italia!” with the Jean Vigo cooperative. In 1980 he made his first film “Maledetti vi amerò” (produced by the same cooperative Jean Vigo) with which he won the Golden Leopard at the 33rd Locarno Film Festival. The following year he presented “The Fall of the Rebel Angels” in Venice. In 1983 he made “Notti e nebbie” for Raidue, based on the novel of the same name by Carlo Castellaneta. In 1988 he is back in Venice with “Appuntamento a Liverpool”. In 1991 it was the turn of “La neve sul fuoco”, an episode of the film “Especially Sunday”, a film in four episodes (the others were directed by Giuseppe Tornatore, Giuseppe Bertolucci and Francesco Barilli) inspired by the tales of Tonino Guerra. In 1995 he directed “Pasolini, an Italian crime” and in 1996 he participated with Gianni Amelio, Marco Risi, Alessandro D’Alatri and Mario Martone in the Rai and Unicef project ‘Beyond childhood – 5 directors for UNICEF’ producing and realizing ” White Shoes “. 1997 is the editing film “La rovina della patria”. “The Hundred Steps” (2000) was presented in competition at the 57th Venice Film Festival. He has published the novel “Secret Life of the Lord of Machines” (1990) and the essay “Pasolini, un delitto italiano” (1994). In 1990 he directed “L’elisir d’amore” by Gaetano Donizetti at the Teatro Verdi in Trieste and in 1997 he curated “Morte di Galeazzo Ciano” by Enzo Siciliano for the Carignano Theater in Turin. In 1982 he made “Young Persons’ Guide to the Orchestra” a music video inspired by the homonymous score by Benjamin Britten, commissioned and presented by the Salso Film & Tv Festival. In 2008 he returned to Cannes to present his ‘Sanguepazzo’ out of competition, a biographical film that tells the story of Luisa Ferida (Monica Bellucci) and Osvaldo Valenti (Luca Zingaretti), actors persecuted during the fascist dictatorship.
