BIOGRAPHY OF MAURO FIORE

Photography director. Italian by origin, at the age of seven he moved with his family to the United States, to Chicago. Later, his parents and his sister decide to return to live in Italy, while he stays in the US to attend Columbia College in Chicago, where he graduates in 1987. During his studies he meets Janush Kaminsky, with whom he moves to California in search of fortune. His career in Hollywood began as an electrician and lighting technician, participating in various productions signed by Steven Spielberg, such as “Schindler’s List” and “Amistad”. Subsequently, always working behind the scenes, he also became a camera operator until, from the 90s onwards, he began to work assiduously as a director of photography. In 2005 he became a member of the American Society of Cinematographers and his filmography included films such as “Carter’s Revenge” (2000, by Stephen T. Kay), “Training Day” (2001, by Antoine Fuqua), “Smokin ‘Aces” ( 2006, by Joe Carnahan) and, above all, “Avatar” (2009) by James Cameron which earned him the 2010 Oscar for best photography.
