John McCain’s daughter Meghan says she’s really, really sorry to have expressed anti-Asian sentiment in the past, especially the time she used the racist term ‘Chinese virus’ on network TV with reference to COVID-19.
In a tweet yesterday, McCain spoke out against the horrific increase in anti-Asian hate crimes of late, adding that she wished to “apologize for any past comments that have contributed to this agenda.” .
“I condemn the reprehensible violence and vitriol that has been directed against the Asian-American community,” McCain tweeted. “There is no question that Donald Trump’s racist rhetoric has fueled many of these attacks and I apologize for any past comments that have contributed to this agenda.”

McCain’s apology came just days after six Asian women were shot dead in Atlanta by a white suspect who told police his attacks were fueled by sexual frustration. Then she posted a meme calling on people to “Stop Asian Hate” with three heartbroken emojis.
But yesterday’s mea culpa was not well received by Internet users on Twitter. Many found this insincere and said it was just McCain making a statement to downplay his past remarks and feel better.
Here is what they say …
“I apologize that the video of me resurfaced”

Still, you agreed with people calling covid-19 the Chinese virus. pic.twitter.com/gsps403lR7

You know it’s a real excuse when it’s word for word the excuses that a “representative” gave to Entertainment Weekly “but with” I “instead of his name. pic.twitter.com/76VLQmQv7B

If you didn’t have such a garbage policy in the first place, you wouldn’t have to apologize “too little too late”. Take a close look at where you get your bad ideas from.

She also didn’t think maternity leave was vital until she had her daughter. Maybe when her daughter comes home from school saying how they had to hide because there was a shooter, she’ll change her mind about guns because, you know, until ‘she goes there, that’s when it counts

Watch her cry over the culture cancellation after contributing to the anti-Asian rhetoric Trump was spewing out. It is sad how much the rich will only change when they feel their money is in danger. But hey, it’s up to the Asian community to forgive you so that you do better ?? they are doing it

Do better. Also, if you really mean it, apologize on The View because that’s where you encouraged racism.

Please tell anyone who wrote this for you that it doesn’t sound sincere.

Here is a video of McCain from a year ago defending the use of the term “Chinese virus” and saying that people can call it “whatever they want.”
