BIOGRAPHY OF NICK ROBINSON
Nick Robinson, born Nicholas John Robinson, is born March 22, 1995 in Seattle, but graduated from Los Anegels at Campbell Hall School in 2013. Since childhood he has shown an aptitude for cinema, encouraged by his parents who at eight years enrolled him in the Bound for Broadway children’s courses. At the age of 11 Robinson made his theater debut with A Christmas Carol by Dickens and it was the stage that formed his early acting years with various productions around Seattle. It was precisely on the occasion of these shows that talent-scout Matt Casella noticed this, being amazed by his talent, his temperament and his smile, considering him ready for Los Angeles and the big screen. Robinson, who left for the City of Angels with his parents, signs with The Savage Agency, but fate has it that the period coincides with the strike of the writers of the Writers Guild of America (2007-2008) and the young Nick and family just have to return to Seattle, where the young man will dedicate himself to performances for a while on stage.
Cinema fortune soon smiles at Nick, who in his second audition receives the role of Ryder Scanlon, one of the main characters of the sitcom Melissa & Joey (2010) with protagonists Melissa Joan Hart is Joey Lawrence. Robinson will keep the part until the last season, in 2015, but in the meantime, during the breaks in the filming, he continues to do casting and in 2012 he joins the cast of the Disney TV comedy. Enemies for the skin with Bella Thorne is Zendaya. The boy is the protagonist of one of the three episodes on which the plot focuses, that of the science genius Jake who will question his four-legged friendship with the dog Murray, due to the deceptions of a wicked schoolmate.
In 2013 Robinson made his debut in the cinema as a protagonist with The Kings of Summer, directorial debut of Jordan Vogt-Roberts, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. The coming-of-age comedy grants the teen a Phoenix Film Critics Society Awards nomination for Best New Actor. After starring in the fourth episode of the third season of Boardwalk Empire – The Empire of Crime (2012) and having finished filming Melissa & Joey, Robinson receives his second in the world of cinema with Jurassic World (2015). The fourth chapter of the Jurassic Park saga gives Robinson’s resume a new main part, that of Zach, the eldest grandson of the character of Bryce Dallas Howard, in one of Hollywood’s most successful franchises. In the same year the actor is also in the cinema with Being Charlie (2015) of Rob Reiner as the protagonist, the eighteen year old Charlie Mills who, after alcohol and drug abuse and subsequent rehabilitation, will be faced with the choices to make to build a future.
Robinson’s acting skills do not struggle to establish themselves after these triumphal beginnings and his career undergoes a sudden surge, in fact, several films follow in which the actor plays the main character, such as sci-fi The fifth wave (2016) of J Blakeson, where it flanks Chloë Grace Moretz in the hunt for aliens. 2017 wants it on the big screen with Krystal, another coming-of-age tale about an 18-year-old in love with a 30-year-old of anonymous alcoholics – whom he hopes to win over – and We are everything, a love story between a young woman with immunodeficiency and her neighbor; the latter film earned him a Teen Choice Award nomination for Best Actor. Robinson is the protagonist of the revolutionary Yours, Simon (2017) of Greg Berlanti, the first teenage film to be told from the point of view of a gay teenager, who goes out during his high school years.
