So Joy Behar made a stupid homophobic joke on The View yesterday and the Tories are really, really, really, really mad about it.
The Ladies were talking about Carl Nassib becoming the first openly gay active NFL player when he took to Instagram earlier this week. Towards the end of the conversation, Behar said: “You know, after I said getting into the end zone, they lost me.”
Ouch! That joke from Joy Behar when discussing the NFL’s first active gay player.

Just to be clear, we love Joy. She’s smart, sassy, and isn’t afraid to call Meghan McCain for her constant bullshit. And we don’t think it’s homophobic. She spoke out in favor of LGBTQ people long before it was fashionable to do so. That said, her joke was homophobic and she should apologize.
The bottom line: Sometimes the allies are wrong. But as long as they apologize and promise to do better in the future, we can move on because they aren’t actively trying to harm us or deny us our rights. This is how forgiveness works.
Shortly after Behar launched the joke, Fox News published a headline which read: “Joy Behar stuns Meghan McCain with an ‘inappropriate joke’ about first openly gay NFL player.” And the Republican Daily headline read, “Joy Behar makes homophobic live joke about gay NFL player.”

Joy Behar made a homophobic joke about on-air sex. Not as bad as Bette Midler’s “feminist” abuse of the n-word, but still, bad enough, bad enough. The same old “it’s okay to be racist / sexist / homophobic if you’re a democrat” bullshit as always.

I have two gay grandsons. Both are NFL fans and we are delighted that Carl Nassib has taken a courageous step. Open the doors and make them feel more accepted. They both have horrible stories of bullying. Nassib comes out, they are encouraged, then Joy Behar Gay Bashed. Very sad.

Seriously, we had NO IDEA, we had SO many allies on the right. Imagine if all those people who are so outraged by Behar on our behalf took a moment to write to their senators and urge them to pass the equality law, or call their governors and tell them to stop signing bills. transphobic, we could end anti-LGBTQ discrimination in no time!
