Russell T. Davies castigates “pathetic” portrayal of bisexuality in “Loki”

“Pathetic, this is a ridiculous and weak move towards the vital politics of stories that should be told… I think huge cleaning warning bells are ringing as the giants rise up with Netflix and Disney + in particular. I think this is a very big concern. Loki makes a reference to being bisexual once, and everyone is like, “Oh my god, this is like a pansexual show.” It’s like a word. He said the word ‘prince’, and we’re supposed to say ‘Thank you, Disney! Are you not wonderful? It is a ridiculous, cowardly and weak gesture towards vital politics and the stories that should be told. Then they will end up damning us with their condescension. So that’s my concern now. —Queer as Folk and It’s a Sin creator Russell T. Davies reviews Disney + for portraying Loki (Tom Hiddleson) as bisexual in a new streaming series. In the comics, Loki is both sexually and sexually fluid and can transform into a woman at will. While the show recognizes Loki’s sexuality obliquely, Davies argued in a recent webinar that the show is in fact depriving LGBTQ viewers of proper portrayal.
