BIOGRAPHY OF STEPHEN FREARS
Film director. He studied law at Cambridge University before turning to directing. He started as an assistant to director Lindsay Anderson at the Royal Court Theater in London. From 1966 to 1972 he was assistant to film director Karel Reisz. In 1971 he made “Gumshoe”, his debut film, which stars the actor Albert Finney, known when he worked in the theater.
