You would think that after leaving the school’s playground, the governor of Utah wouldn’t expect too much heartache because of his last name. However, Spencer Cox (R) recently revealed that some people still have a problem with this.

He posted on Twitter a photo of a letter he received last week from someone who found his name “obscene”.

“I don’t know if you know it, but when people say your last name, it sounds like the word rooster. It’s obscene! We honest people here in Utah will not stand it, ”the letter’s author began.

“Due to your reluctance to change your filthy, filthy and obscene last name, I and thousands of other Utahns will be sitting in protest, not standing, until you change your obnoxious last name. into something less offensive. “

They concluded: “This is not a Communist dictatorship… We do not allow unhealthy jokes to be spread in our civil institutions.

At the time of writing, his tweet has had over 10,000 likes and over a thousand retweets. Many responded by saying the letter must have been a joke, but Cox said his staff believed it was serious.

I thought so. My Director of Constituent Affairs (the guy who sees all the letters and all the phone calls) thinks this is serious.

A California independent congressman with the same name said he had similar correspondence.

I have received emails to the same effect.

Have multiple friends with the same last name. I would never have thought of it. Maybe you should get your mind out of the gutter, just a thought.

You would think Spencer Cox was new to politics to cause this sudden anger. However, despite being elected governor last year, he has served as lieutenant governor since 2013 and was elected to the House of Representatives in 2012.
