Korean music group BTS is collaborating with McDonald’s on their own commission: The BTS Meal.
On Monday April 19, the fast food chain announced that it will be launching The BTS Meal starting May 26 in the United States.
The BTS Meal includes a 10 Piece Chicken McNuggets, Medium Fries, Medium Coke, and, for the first time in the US, Sweet Chili and Cajun Dipping Sauces. McDonald’s says the sauces are inspired by popular recipes from its restaurants in South Korea, where the group is from.
The meal will also launch in 50 additional countries in May and June. This is the first time the fast food giant has showcased a celebrity’s favorite order in more than one market.
“The group has fond memories with McDonald’s,” BTS’s label Big Hit Music said in a statement. “We are thrilled with this collaboration and look forward to sharing the BTS meal with the world.”
“BTS really lights up the world stage, uniting people around the world through their music,” said Morgan Flatley, director of marketing at McDonald’s USA. “We’re excited to bring customers closer to their beloved group in a way that only McDonald’s can – thanks to our delicious cuisine – when we introduce the BTS Signature Order to our menu next month.”
The chain has already enjoyed success with similar limited-edition celebrity meals featuring musicians Travis Scott and J Balvin.
Travis Scott’s meal was so popular that it caused quarter-pound shortages for some McDonald’s establishments. McDonald’s executives told investors the company hit several records on its social media accounts when the collaboration was announced.
U.S. customers will be able to order BTS Meal in restaurants, via contactless mobile ordering, and pay in the McDonald’s app, Drive Thru, or via McDelivery from May 26 to June 20.
