Will Gossip Girl original narrator Kristen Bell return for the reboot?
The new Gossip Girl series is slated to premiere exclusively on HBO Max on July 8. Thankfully, Bell will reprise her role as the anonymous narrator for the new Upper East Siders class. The series will follow a group of private schoolchildren into the new era of social media.
Creator Josh Schwartz told Entertainment Tonight that the show is largely dependent on approval from Bell.
“It wasn’t really a conversation, Josh and Stephanie were like, if she doesn’t want to do it, let’s all go,” he revealed. “We walked over to her and she said, ‘Of course I want to. “And then, yeah, there’s no Gossip Girl without Kristen. I mean, it’s not just the voice, it’s her whole being.

The new character cast are just as excited about Bell’s return as the team. Tavi Gevinson, who will play Katie Keller, is a fan of his work.
“I mean, thank goodness she’s the iconic voiceover… like, any other voice would be like ‘eh’,” Gevinson said.
Meanwhile, Emily Alyn Lynd will play Audrey Hope, a girl who has had a long-standing relationship and wonders what else is going on. Lynd said Bell’s return was a necessity.
