Why does Meghan Markle not attend Prince Philip’s funeral?

Meghan Markle will not be present at Prince Philip’s funeral.

On Saturday (April 10) it was announced that Prince Harry would attend his grandfather’s funeral, unlike his wife. Sources close to the couple have revealed the reason Markle will not be able to travel.

“The Duchess went out of her way to travel alongside the Duke, but unfortunately she did not receive medical clearance from her doctor,” a source told BAZAAR from Harper.

Meghan is expecting their second child, a daughter.

In their special interview with Oprah Winfrey, the host revealed that they were expecting “at some point this summer.” The couple moved to Southern California last year in the midst of their royal outing.

Prince Philip’s funeral will be held in the UK on Saturday April 17 at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle. Prince Harry will be present and “will follow COVID-19 protocols for travel” in both directions.

Prince Philip died on Friday April 9 at the age of 99. The couple released a statement regarding his passing through their Archewell website. “In memory of His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh 1921-2021 Thank you for your service… you will be greatly missed,” the statement read.
