Willow Smith has revealed that she is polyamorous.
On the Wednesday April 28 episode of Red Table Talk, Willow chatted about her lifestyle with her mom, Jada Pinkett Smith, and grandmother, Adrienne “Gammy” Banfield-Norris.
“With polyamory, I think the main foundation is the freedom to be able to create a relationship style that works for you and not just go into monogamy because that’s what everyone around you is saying is. right thing to do, ”said Willow.
Polyamory is the practice of having multiple romantic partners at the same time, with the consent of all parties involved.
Willow noted that one of the main reasons monogamous relationships fail is because of infidelity.
Willow shared that she was introduced to polyamory through a “non-sexual lens” and added that in her group of friends she had “the least sex of all my friends.”
“Let’s say you haven’t always been the person who wants sex all the time, but your partner is. Are you going to be the person who says, ‘It’s not because I don’t have these? needs that you can’t have them either? ‘”Willow continued.
Jada responded by saying that she believed people were monogamous because “they feel like they have no other choice.” Meanwhile, Gammy said she’s still trying to figure out what polyamory is, but clarified that some people still enjoy traditional marriage.
“It’s heartwarming that it brings social order to life and sets limits and commitments,” Gammy noted.
Willow concluded their conversation by admitting that she doesn’t believe she will get married unless there is a future “common purpose”.
