She first gained prominence in the field of acting through her portrayal of Tia Landry in sitcom show Sister, Sister. She was just a teenager when she played the role.

Tia Dashon Mowry was born to mother Darlene Renée Mowry who worked as a security guard and father, Timothy John Mowry who was a U.S. Army at Gelnhausen, West Germany on 6th July of 1987. Later, her family moved to California, and her father became a custody officer at City of Glendale Police Department.

Her father has an English descent whereas her mother has ancestry of Afro-Bahamian. Tia has an elder twin sister named Tamera followed by two younger brothers Tahj and Tavior.

Tia graduated her high school from Birmingham High School. Later she attended Pepperdine University in Malibu, furthermore, graduated in 2001 with a Major in Psychology.

During her childhood, Tia along with her sister participated in different talents shows and pageants. After her family had moved to California, the twins also started to appear in commercials and advertisements.

As an actress

Tia first worked as a professional actor through the role of Tia Landry in series Sister, Sister. Initially, the show aired on ABC. However, it was canceled after 2-years, resulting in it airing on the WB for four years.

Furthermore, while working on the show, she also made frequent appearances in Smart Guy. Her brother Tahj Mowry was also on the show. Moreover, at the same time, Tia also has a voice role in Detention which is a cartoon series.

After the show had ended, she and her twin sister started to study. After completion of their education, both of them appeared in the comedy movie ‘The Hot Chick’ where she acted as a cheerleader. Furthermore, in the same year, she also had another voice role in cartoon show Bratz as Sasha.

In the year 2005, she also starred in Twitches alongside her sister. Twitches is an original movie of Disney. Furthermore, the twin duo again reprised their role in the sequel of the movie Twitches Too.

Next year in May of 2012, she also published her book. The book was titled ‘Oh, Baby: Pregnancy Tales and Advice from One Hot Mama to Another.’ The book was about her pregnancy and also about her being a mother and working at the same time.

An announcement was made in August that the actress was the lead character in Instant Mom which is a comedy series. Before that in May, she also announced her returning in the 6th season of The Game.
