5 Really Weird Reasons We Love “American Horror Stories”

Ryan Murphy is working so hard that we’re not sure he’s sleeping. Besides, we’re not sure he wants us to sleep either, given his love of horror.

On July 15, Murphy returned to the macabre with the new American Horror Stories series, broadcast exclusively in FX on Hulu. The show acts as a spinoff from the popular American Horror Story, bringing together some of the original cast for seven new stories of terror and suspense.

As such, we’re excited to check it out and have at least five great reasons to watch the new show.

Take a look to find out why you should stream American Horror Stories this weekend, FX exclusively on Hulu. (New episodes on Thursdays.)

it’s an anthology

american horror story was acclaimed for its adoption of the anthology season, meaning a season that tells a single story, with additional seasons using the same cast in different roles. American Horror Stories takes this concept one step further, with each episode featuring a new nightmare story in the Black mirror. This opens the door for a wide variety of stories where anything can happen, and increases the suspense factor, and it looks like everything will actually turn out.

It stars Matt Bomer

the AHS the franchise has long been praised for some stunning visuals. American Horror Stories plans to continue this trend with one particularly stunning surprise: Matt Bomer, very pleasing to the eyes at 43. More than his famous traits, however, we can’t wait to see Bomer take a starring role in the AHS universe again (he once played in AHS: Hotel). He is at the top of his game, delivering breathtaking performances in Papi Chulo and The boys of the group. We can’t wait to see him show some reach here… although it might mean running for his life.

Naomi Grossman is getting scary … again

American Horror Story fans will never forget Naomi Grossman, the talented character actress who has become downright iconic thanks to her portrayal of Pepper in seasons 2 and 4 of the series. Now she returns to the horror world as Rabid Ruth, a mysterious woman in the episode “Drive In”. Grossman has a unique charisma that makes her a compelling performer to watch, and we’re sure American Horror Stories will give her some juicy material to chew on.

Billie Lourd returns

Speaking of talented children of talented parents, Billie Lourd, daughter of the late Carrie Fisher, also plays a role in this season. We are still in the cracks of the outrageous performance and stage robbery of Lourd in Booksmart, so any opportunity to see her show up again piqued our interest. Lourd has natural beauty and comedic timing, so hopefully AHS gives him the opportunity to laugh a little.

This is weird

In addition to Bomer and Jackson, the inaugural season of AHS will also feature a litany of talented LGBTQ actors, including Kevin McHale, Dyllón Burnside, Gavin Creel, Madison Bailey and Nico Greetham. Ryan Murphy muse and Horror story Former student Sarah Paulson will also direct the series, and the promotional material also hints at a number of LGBTQ characters on the show.

We can’t wait to see for ourselves. Bring it on!
