Kansas state official faces violent misdemeanor charges after being caught on tape throwing a homophobic temper tantrum in a classroom that ended in gender violence against a student male.
Several videos obtained by the Kansas City Star showed State Representative Mark Samsel making homophobic remarks in class during a rant about suicide, masturbation, God and “making babies” while working as a a substitute teacher at a high school last week.
Kansas City Star reports:
In a video shared with The Star, Samsel tells students about a “sophomore who attempted suicide three times”, adding that it was because “he has two parents and they are both women. “.
“He’s an adopted child. His alternatives in life were not to have homosexual parents or foster parents, ”Samsel told the students. “How do you think I’m going to feel if he commits suicide?” Terrible.”
In another video, Samsel is recorded telling the students, “Make babies. Who likes to make babies? It feels good, doesn’t it? Procreate … You haven’t masturbated? Do not answer this question. … God already knows that.
But it was Samsel, 36’s treatment of one particular student that was most disconcerting. Several videos show him chasing the child around the classroom before aggressively grabbing him from behind.
“You are about to anger me and receive the wrath of God!” he shouts. “Do you believe in me when I tell you that God has spoken to me?”
Then he pushes the child away. As the student runs to safety, Samsel shouts: “You should run and scream!” He later said to the other students, “Class, you have permission to kick him in the balls.”
Parents of students in the room also allege that Samsel knelt the child in the groin shortly before asking others to do the same. Another video would show him hovering over the child moments after assaulting him. “Does it hurt?” he asks.
Then he asks the child why he is crying and asks another student to “check his nuts for him” before telling the child “to go see the nurse, she can check it for you”.
In response to the videos, Superintendent Ryan Bradley said Samsel was not allowed to work for the school district. Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas responded by saying that Samsel “shouldn’t just be left out of his replacement. He should be prevented from being around children.
What the hell is going on with the #KSLeg this session? It should not simply be excluded from the replacement. He should be prevented from being with all the children. https://t.co/WkWTBanx8h

And this is where the story gets even crazier. Because according to Samsel, it was all a stunt that was “all planned”.
“Every little part of it. It’s true, ”he said in a Snapchat post. “The kids and I planned it all to send a message about art, mental health, teen suicide, how we treat our educators and each other. Whose? Parents. And the grandparents. And all of Wellsville.
He added that the incident was “exactly what God had planned. The children were there. Not all. But the most.”
He repeated these claims in an interview with local media.
Samsel was first elected to the Kansas House of Representatives in 2018. Prior to last week’s incident, he was best known for voting against removing a spousal exemption from the violence law. state sex.
In true GOP fashion, none of his fellow Republicans have commented on the incident or said whether Samsel will be censored, expelled or face any punishment in the legislature.
