BJÖRK’S BIOGRAPHY
Björk Guðmundsdóttir, better known as Björk (Reykjavík, November 21, 1965), is an Icelandic musician, singer, songwriter and actress. She has become famous for her particular vocal expressiveness and for her eclectic musical style influenced by many different genres such as alternative rock, jazz, ambient, electronic, classical, folk and trip hop, as well as for her eccentric stage wear and for his original and controversial music videos. Her record label, One Little Indian Records, reported in 2003 that the singer has sold 15 million records worldwide. Known at home since the eighties for his participation in the local music scene, he moved to London in the nineties where he acquired international fame starting his parable as an artist in continuous evolution and in continuous musical and vocal research (emblematic in this sense his studio album, Medúlla, from 2004, entirely composed of vocal recordings of her and her collaborators) which led her to be recognized as the link between the pop artist and the avant-garde artist. His most recent studio work is Biophilia, due to be released in 2011 and presented with a series of 6 concerts during the Manchester International Festival from 30 June to 17 July 2011. Biophilia represents a great innovation in the music scene both because it is the first album to be released as a suite of applications for iPad and iPhone, both for the technology and tools used during the performance at MOSI in Manchester. Biophilia comes out 4 years after the last album Volta, from May 2007.
