BIOGRAPHY OF SOFIA BOUTELLA
Naturalized French Algerian, born in 1982, daughter of a jazz musician and an architect, Sofia Boutella began her artistic career as a dancer. At the age of five, in fact, Sofia began studying ballet; at 10, after moving to France with her family, she began practicing rhythmic gymnastics, becoming part of the transalpine Olympic national team.
Later she became passionate about hip hop dance and street dance, and from the early 2000s she began to appear as a dancer in commercials, video clips (for artists such as Jamiroquai, Cesária Évora, Rihanna and Madonna, with which he will also go on tour) and television series. In 2007 is chosen by Nike for a series of commercials, which further explode its popularity: thus, in 2012, after being the protagonist of the video of Michael Jackson “Hollywood Tonight”, comes the role of Eve in Street Dance 2. Sofia then also appears in Monsters: Dark Continent, sequel to the film directed by Gareth Edwards, while in the 2016 is the lethal Gazelle, henchman of Samuel L. Jackson with blades instead of the lower legs, in Kingsman: Secret Service.
In Star Trek Beyond director Justin Lin entrusted her with the part of Jaylah, an alien who will find herself teaming up with Scotty, Kirk, Spock and McCoy.
She will soon be the protagonist of the reboot de The Mummy and will appear in films such as the thriller with Charlize Theron is James McAvoy The Coldest City and science fiction Gateway 9, with Rhys Ifans.
