Shrek is officially turning 20 this year and to celebrate this milestone, fans take part in a hilarious social media challenge to draw the famous Green Ogre from memory.
The trend started with a challenge described by British comedian Brainmage, who tweeted: “Looks like Shrek’s speech is happening, so it’s time for my favorite thing: SHREK OUT OF MEMORY. Can. draw? Good! Can’t draw? EVEN BETTER !!
“DONT DARE look at a Shrek ahead of time. Draw it! Post it! Cramp the picture with half recalled details!” he continued using the hashtag #DrawShrekFromMemory
Needless to say, the results are … all over the swamp – er, we mean, map – ranging from ridiculous full-body depictions to jerky close-up portraits, and even a few involving Shrek’s loyal sidekick, Donkey. .
“I’m sorry, my son, he’s an abomination in the eyes of gods and men,” one Twitter user captioned his drawing of the titular ogre, while another admitted: “He started cute and ended up scary “of her own attempt at a portrait of Shrek.
Yet another fan scribbled “A Sincere Attempt Was Made” on her drawing, captioning the post, “It went well with the Shrek and fell apart with Donkey.”

Released on May 18, 2001, the original Shrek film featured the vocal talents of A-listers Mike Myers as Shrek, Eddie Murphy as Donkey, Cameron Diaz as Princess Fiona, and John Lithgow as Lord Farquaad.
