BIOGRAPHY OF DANIEL BURMAN
Director, screenwriter and producer. Born in Argentina but of Polish-Jewish origin, he retained dual citizenship. He starts his law studies, but then changes his mind and decides to devote himself to cinema and between 1992 and 1995 he made some short films, including “Ninos envueltos” (1995) awarded at the annual INCAA short film competition and became part of the feature film in episodes “Historias breves”. In 1996 he made his first work, “Un crisantemo estalla en cincoesquinas”, which won the Fipresci prize at the Sochi Festival in Russia. In 2000 he made “Esperando al Mesías”, the first film of an autobiographical trilogy – which also includes “El abrazo partido – L’abbraccio perduto” (2004) and “Derecho de famiglia” (2006) – focused on the problems of a young Jew in Buenos Aires (Ariel, played in all three films by actor Daniel Hendler). Together with Diego Dubcovsky, in 1995 he founded the production house BD Cine with which they produced some successful Argentine films such as “Garage Olimpo” (1999) by Marco Bechis and “I diari della motocicli” by Walter Salles.
