BIOGRAPHY OF BRENDA CHAPMAN
Director and screenwriter. Born and raised in Illinois, she graduated from the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts). He has worked on some of Disney’s most loved films such as: “The Little Mermaid” (1989), “Bianca and Bernie in the Land of Kangaroos” (1990), “Beauty and the Beast” (1991), “The Hunchback of Notre Dame “(1996) and” Fantasia 2000 “(1999). She was supervisor of the blockbuster animated film “The Lion King” (1994). After nearly eight years at Disney he launched a new animation studio: DreamWorks Animation Studios, for which he directed the 1998 film “The Prince of Egypt”. It was the first time a woman directed an animated film from a major Hollywood studio. Prior to joining Pixar Animation Studios – in September 2003 – he worked as a history and directorial consultant on various projects for DreamWorks, Universal Studios and Sony Animation. At Pixar she was the story artist in the Academy Award nominated feature film “Cars – Roaring Motors” (2006). In 2012, together with Mark Andrews, he conceived and directed the story, characters and highly original world of “Rebel – The Brave”, an epic adventure set in the legendary Scottish Highlands. This Disney-Pixar feature won the Oscar for Best Animated Film at the 2013 Academy Awards.
