Tom Felton is set to return to the Harry Potter and the Blonde Highlights franchise.
The 33-year-old actor revealed his hopes in an interview with People to promote Harry Potter’s new flagship store in New York City.
“If you ask me, will I dye my hair blonde again to be Draco, absolutely-bloody-lute,” he said. “Is [him or Lucius Malfoy]. I’ll play Draco’s kid if you really want to! Any chance of being a Malfoy again would be greatly accepted. “
Felton has revealed that he feels he owns the character and will take it over for any potential future projects.
“I think if someone else played [Draco], I would be slightly possessive, saying, ‘Wait,’ ”admitted Felton.
Felton shared that he stays in touch with the majority of the main cast. He also plays golf (and loses) with James and Oliver Phelps (Fred and George Weasley).
“I was talking to Rupert [Grint], Daniel [Radcliffe] and Emma [Watson] separately the other day and [said], “Twenty years, can you imagine that? “He recalls.” First of all, they all look the same, literally. Rupert looks exactly the same. “
Felton added that he and his former co-stars were “a little flabbergasted” that the film series was even more popular years later.
“We’re all a little surprised by this. We’re definitely excited and we feel old when we realize it’s been 20 years since we made the first movie,” he concluded.
In January 2021, it was reported that HBO Max was in “early development” on a Harry Potter TV series. HBO released a statement and said they are not exploring it at this time.
Grint commented on the report and said a TV show would be “weird if it was some kind of a continuation.”
“I feel weirdly pretty protective of this character,” he shared with Variety. “Even when I saw the shows on stage [Harry Potter and the Cursed Child], it was a very strange experience … If it’s like a different group of friends, I guess it would be interesting. “
