JEFF DANIELS BIOGRAPHY
Actor. Born in Georgia, he grew up in Chelsea in Michigan, where he attended Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant. It was during his college years that he began to get passionate about acting, and after having participated in production “Summer and Smoke” by Marshall W. Mason moves to New York to star with Mason himself in the Circle Repertory.
From the mid of seventies regularly appears on and off-Broadway scenes, winning the 1982/83 OBIE Award for his performance in “Johnny Got His Gun “. The film debut dates back to 1981 with a secondary role in “Ragtime“by Milos Forman. Popularity comes with subsequent interpretations in”Longing for tenderness“(1983) by James L. Brooks and”The purple rose of Cairo“(1985) by Woody Allen and later also featured in films such as the horror comedy”Arachnophobia“(1990, by Frank Marshall), the historical drama”Gettysburg“(1993, by Ronald F. Maxwell) and the zany comedy”Dumber and dumber“(1994, by the Farrelly brothers) alongside Jim Carrey. He had a supporting role in the biopic dedicated to Truman Capote.”Infamous“and in some independent films including”Look into the void“. He was one of the voice actors of”Space Chimps“and starred in political thrillers”Traitor” is “State of Play – find out the truth“. In 2009 he was the protagonist of the comedy”The Answer Man“and starred opposite Ryan Reynolds in”Paper Man“. He returned to independent cinema with”American Life” is “Scream“. In 2014 he reprized the role of Harry Dunne in” Dumber and Dumber 2 “.
From 2012 to 2014 he plays Will MacAvoy in the television series “The Newsroom“, for which he won an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for the 2013 Emmy Awards.
