The Karens seem to be inevitable lately, so it seems only natural that a new TV movie titled Karen About a Racist White Woman will premiere soon.
In Coke Daniels’ thriller to air on BET, Orange is the New Black star Taryn Manning stars as Karen, “a racist white woman from the South who is terrorizing her new black neighbors.”
Cory Hardrict and Jasmine Burke play the neighbors.
” The characteristic [is] about Karen Drexler (Manning), a racist white woman who makes it her personal mission to move the new black family that just moved in next to her, ”the synopsis read, via Deadline.
“Community activist Malik (Hardrict) and his wife Imani (Burke) are the couple who just moved to suburban Atlanta, but they won’t back down without a fight.”
“Last year, during the global pandemic and civil unrest, I – like many of us – felt anger, hopelessness and despair. The overwhelming support from people around the world who want to see the change has been such an inspiration, ”Daniels explained.
“I felt a social responsibility to take on this role,” added Manning. “Even though I had to play the villain to make changes around the world, then I was more than willing to take on the role. What is happening is devastating. It’s time for change and for me to be a part of the whole it meant a lot to me.
A release date has not yet been set.
