Mike Pence is trying to distance himself from Donald Trump and the whole internet is like “Bitch please!”

Ivanka Trump is said to have “distanced herself” from her father, and now Mike Pence appears to be doing the same. Unfortunately for both of them, the stench of Donald Trump is pervasive and lasts forever.

Pence made an appearance at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library yesterday, where he tried to revise history when he spoke of that “tragic day” in January when his former boss killed an angry mob on the US Capitol in the goal of overturning the 2020 election results.

In his speech, Pence tried to pass himself off as some sort of crusader for American democracy for simply doing his job that day certifying the election results.

He made no mention of the fact that for four years he turned a blind eye to the lawlessness, abuse of power and utter disregard of the US Constitution by Donald Trump.

Nor did he explain that he himself had not conceded the election and called then Vice President-elect Kamala Harris to congratulate her until just a week before the inauguration of Biden, after it was absolutely clear that the coup attempt had failed.

“Now there are members of our party who believe that as chairman of the joint session I had the power to reject or return state-certified electoral votes,” Pence told the crowd yesterday. . “But the Constitution does not give the vice president such authority until the joint session of Congress.”

He continued, “And the truth is that there is hardly any idea more anti-American than the idea that one person can choose the American president. The presidency belongs to the American people and the American people alone.

Of course, that’s all Civic 101. What Pence said wasn’t new, courageous, or even remotely revolutionary. This is something the vast majority of Americans already knew before January 6.

The former vice president went on to say that he “will always be proud that we have done our part, on this tragic day, to reconvene Congress and fulfill our duty under the Constitution and state laws- United”.

Many interpret the speech as Pence’s attempt to position himself for a 2024 presidential race. Too bad no one seems to be buying the bullshit he is selling.

Here is what the folx say about it …

This does not explain the constant assault on the constitution where you have stood in silence. You defended the constitution ONCE

Mike Pence’s political career ended on January 6.

Mike Pence still hasn’t figured out that his happy medium is a political chasm. He will never win MAGA voters, and yet he will never be able to wash away the stench of Trump.

Pence will never be president.

Umm, you’re about five years behind that buster. The best is probably to hang it on all the slander of the oval and go home to mom. Find a hobby.

Someone should tell Mike Pence that Trump’s near death from COVID is the closest he will ever be to becoming president.

It is unfortunately the party of the insurrection.

Sorry for being particularly cynical, but Mike Pence realized that there was no way Trump was interested in burying the hatchet with him. So what we have here is the forced fulcrum to claim any moral ground Pence can tinker with to save his future in GOP politics. https://t.co/cnPmFqO5Mj

The party responsible for an armed insurrection cannot be the party of the Constitution.

I give Mike Pence a minimum of respect for what he did on January 6th.

And just to be clear, a minimum is the smallest unit on earth.

Unless you believe what Stormy Daniels said about Trump.
