BIOGRAPHY OF JODIE FOSTER

Actress and director. She began her career at the tender age of three in advertising – she is the famous baby of Coppertone sunscreen – and then immediately moved on to work in several television series. Child prodigy, she never took acting lessons and in 1972 she was already on the big screen where she played a series of films for children. In ’74 she has a little part in “Alice doesn’t live here anymore” by Martin Scorsese who later entrusts her with the role of the young prostitute Iris in “Taxi driver” (1976), for which, just fourteen, she was nominated for an Oscar as best supporting actress. She is the first actress to receive two Oscars before the age of thirty. The first is from 1988 for Jonathan Kaplan’s “The accused” and the second is from 1991 for Jonathan Demme’s “The silence of the lamb” which definitively consecrates her as an international star. Several times nominated for the Golden Globes she won one for “Under accusation” and one for “The silence of the lambs”. In ’95 she received the David di Donatello for “Nell”, by Michael Apted, the first film she starred and produced with her production company Egg Pictures, founded in 1990. In ’91 she made her directorial debut with “My little genius” (Little man tate). Graduated from the French High School in Los Angeles in 1980, she speaks the language so well that she dubbed herself in the French versions of her films. She has a degree in English literature, taken with honors from Yale University in 1985. Very reserved in her private life, undeclared homosexual, she is romantically linked to producer Sidney Bernhard and has two children, Charles born in 1998 and Kit in 2001, both born with artificial insemination. In his spare time he practices various sports (kickboxing, karate, yoga, aerobics and weight lifting), collects unusual kitchen utensils and black and white photos. On March 30, 1981, an avid admirer of hers, John Warnok Hinkey Jr., to impress her tried to assassinate Ronald Reagan by emulating the attack that Robert De Niro carried out against candidate Pallantine in “Taxi driver”.
