Surprise! Amber Heard is a mom!
On Thursday July 1, the Aquaman star announced the arrival of her first child via Instagram. His daughter, Oonagh [pronounced oo-nuh] Paige Heard, was born on April 8, 2021. Paige is the name of the late mother of the 35-year-old actress while Oonagh of Irish origin means “lamb”.
“I am so excited to share this news with you. Four years ago I decided I wanted to have a child,” she wrote. “I wanted to do it on my own terms. I now understand how radical it is for us as women to think this way about one of the most fundamental aspects of our destiny. I hope we come to this. a point where it’s normalized to I don’t want a ring to have a cradle. “
Heard noted that part of her wanted to keep her private life private but understands the nature of her job.
Heard’s friends told Page Six that Heard used a surrogate to bring Oonagh into the world after being told she would not be able to bear a child.
“Oonagh is absolutely gorgeous, and Amber is blown away,” the friends said. “She always knew she wanted to be a mom, and it’s her biggest wish that comes true. She’s so grateful to the wonderful woman who helped bring Oonagh into her life.”
The sources added that Heard wanted to speak openly about the birth of his daughter.
“There are so many women who feel they can’t talk about their fertility and are worried and embarrassed; Amber wants them to feel supported and realize that there are so many ways to have a baby even if you have fertility issues, ”they concluded.
