BIOGRAPHY OF SARAH MICHELLE GELLAR
Actress. After her parents’ divorce in 1984, she grew up with her mother Rosellen, a teacher, and has not had a good relationship with her father Arthur (found dead in her apartment in October 2001) ever since. She completed her studies at the Children’s Professional School of New York and among her peers are actors Tara Reid, Macauley Culkin and Jerry O’Connell (to whom she has been romantically linked for a year). Her artistic career began at the tender age of four, noticed in a restaurant by an agent who opened the doors of advertising and television to her. After numerous commercials and several appearances on the small screen, the first major role came in 1991 for the mini-series inspired by the life of Jackie Kennedy “A Woman Named Jackie”, in which she played a very young Jacqueline Bouvier, while her first successes were in 1993, when she joined the cast of the soap opera “All My Children” in the role of Kendall Hart. The big break came in 1996 when she auditioned for the role of Cordelia in the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” series. Her performance was so convincing that she was entrusted with the role of the protagonist Buffy. The series immediately became a great success for American teen-agers and in a short time it also conquered young international audiences. As a result of the fame acquired as Buffy, it was not long in coming to her film proposals and so she was called to star in Jim Gillespie’s “I Know What You Did” (1997), Wes Craven’s “Scream 2” (1997), “Simply irresistible” ( 1999) by Mark Tarlov and “Cruel Intentions” (1999) by Roger Kumble. In 2002 she starred together with her boyfriend Freddie Prinze Jr. (known on the set of “I know what you did”, he was a long time friend of hers before becoming her partner) in Raja Gosnell’s film “Scooby-Doo”, inspired by the famous cartoon from the 70s. Among his passions are martial arts, he studied Tae Kwon Do for several years and took lessons in kickboxing, boxing and street fighting; children’s literature, has a collection of rare books; and tattoos, she has several scattered around her body.
