This next album by Iggy Azalea will be his last for at least a few years.
On Thursday (July 15), the rapper announced her upcoming music departure via Twitter. It is said that she will release her new album on August 13th.
“End of an Era is so special to me because after releasing my album next month, I’m going to take a few years to focus on other creative projects and things that excite and inspire me, beyond music, ”she tweeted. “I am delighted that you see different sides of me in the future.”
Although she takes a break from music, she will still hit the road with Pitbull on the I Feel Good tour which starts in August and ends in October.
“Shifting my energy and focusing on what excites me the most is what works for me and I hope you will continue to support all of the creative projects that I am doing,” she continued. “I really love this album and I just want my fans to enjoy it with me. Hope I see so many of you on tour!”
In a follow-up tweet, Azalea told her fans that she will be releasing another project the week after releasing her album.
End of an Era will mark Azalée’s third studio album. This follows his 2014 record The New Classic and 2019 In My Defense.
The news of his hiatus follows his recent blackfishing controversy. Some social media users have accused Azalea of attempting to appear ethnically black in her “I Am The Stripclub” clip. She quickly put an end to the accusations and revealed that she wears the exact same shade of makeup that she always does.
