California gubernatorial candidate, former Olympian and reality TV star Caitlyn Jenner has announced her latest move leading to her candidacy to oust Governor Gavin Newsom this fall. She will appear in the Australian version of the Big Brother reality TV series.

The NZ Herald reports that Jenner has already arrived in Australia and has started a mandatory 14-day quarantine period as a precaution against the spread of COVID-19. After her period of isolation, Jenner will next show up at the Big Brother House in Sydney Olympic Park to appear in Big Brother VIP, a famous version of the show. The winner of the contest will pocket $ 500,000.

The appearance, aside from the perplexity of Californians who would wonder why a candidate for governor would take the time to campaign to appear on a foreign reality show, has already drawn the ire of Australians. Currently, the Australian government only allows 3,000 people to enter the country per week, regardless of nationality, as a COVID-19 mitigation measure. Current estimates postulate that around 34,000 Australians remain stranded abroad. Allowing a wealthy American to enter the country on a reality TV show raises questions about Jenner’s and Australian government’s priorities.

Jenner, for her part, called herself a “compassionate disruptor” in her campaign for governor. “California has been my home for almost 50 years. I came here because I knew that anyone, regardless of their background or situation in life, could turn their dreams into reality. But over the past decade, we have seen the golden state’s glow diminished by the one-party regime that places politics above progress and special interests above people. Sacramento needs an honest leader with a clear vision, ”she said in a campaign ad.

Californians seem to remain skeptical. A poll released in May showed Jenner only had 6% support in the state compared to 49% for Newsom. Two other Republican candidates, San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer and businessman John Cox, both held 22% of the vote, while former Rep. Doug Ose held 14%.

In other words, Jenner’s chances of landing in the Governor’s Mansion appear to be dwindling. She has been criticized in the past following a disastrous appearance on The View, for comments condemning transgender participation in sports and for failing to vote in almost two-thirds of elections since 2000. On the other hand, she maybe thinking about her reality TV appearance story. could save his campaign.

In a way, we think the opposite.
