TikTok video merges Matthew McConaughey with Joker

DC’s Joker is arguably one of the most popular villains of all time. Now, thanks to TikTok, we know what it would look like if Matthew McConaughey took on the iconic role.

TikTok user @conajam_ jumped onto the platform to give us his impression of the How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days actor auditioning to play the Clown Prince of Crime. Spoiler alert: it’s not just okay okay okay … it’s awesome.

Take a look below:

“So you’re the Batman, whoop dee doo,” says the TikToker, known as Conajam, along with McConaughey’s beloved twang. “I’m the JOKER, man. I’m not afraid of you, I’m not afraid of anything. I’m just here to watch this universe burn to the ground like a Marlboro Red.”

Of course, the teaser ends with an intonation of the unforgettable “Why so serious?” of the Joker. quote. The only thing missing? McConaughey is equally memorable “okay okay okay.”

It’s a decidedly different take on the supervillain, but we’re used to it now. With his instantly recognizable costume and completely disjointed tendency to do evil, the Joker plays a key role in a plethora of DC films, meaning that several fabulous actors have played the character before.

Heath Ledger faced off against Christian Bale’s Batman in The Dark Knight in 2008. The actor, who tragically passed away shortly after playing the villain, brought the character to life with a host of unsettling characteristics and received an Oscar for his title. posthumous for the role.

Since then, we’ve seen several other renditions: Jared Leto tormented Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad in 2016; Joaquin Phoenix gave his anguished take on the role – and also won an Oscar – with the Joker of 2019. And that’s just a sampling of talented actors who played the clownish criminal. (Jack Nicholson! Mark Hamill! César Romero!)

As we saw above, McConaughey’s take would be atypical, but it’s not entirely impossible to imagine a laid-back yet still mean Joker. And the actor certainly has the range to succeed. Although he rose to fame through romantic comedies and lighter projects, he excelled in more serious roles, such as his Oscar-winning performance at the Dallas Buyers Club.

In a perfect world, we might see McConaughey take on the Joker and see Ben again in a sequel to How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days that same year. It can’t hurt to dream, can it?
