BIOGRAPHY OF ALDO GIUFFRÉ
Actor, voice actor and comedian. His father, a cellist at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, died when he was only twelve years old. Little Aldo is thus forced to go to work to help the family, while his brother Carlo (later also an actor) is sent to a boarding school for orphans. His career in the entertainment world begins when, not yet twenty, he is hired at RAI as a radio announcer and the experience will take him even for a short period to Rome (his is the voice that on 25 April 1945 from via Asiago announces to the Italians the end of the Second World War). He tried the way of the theater from the beginning of the 1940s until in 1946, after the disastrous attempt to form his own company, he joined that of Eduardo De Filippo. Among his most intense interpretations, the heroic sailor Pitrella of “The four days of Naples” (1962, by Nanni Loy), the Neapolitan populist Pasquale Nardella in the episode “Adelina” inserted in “Yesterday, today, tomorrow” (1963, by Vittorio De Sica), the northern officer of “The good, the bad and the ugly” (1966, by Sergio Leone) and the foolish Cocò in “Mi manda Picone” (1984, by Loy himself). Much more substantial, perhaps like the theater, is his activity on television where he participates in scripted novels (including “The trench”, 1961, and “The captain’s daughter”, 1965), modern comedies (“Le donne honest” , “The mask and the face”, 1965), literary classics (Shakespeare, Schiller, Pushkin, Tolstoy) and TV series (“The adventures of Laura Storm”, 1965), even going so far as to conduct variety broadcasts such as “Senza rete “(1973) and participating in the famous” Canzonissima “.
