Amy Winehouse’s family to auction off late singer’s clothes

Amy Winehouse’s family announced on Sunday May 9 that they plan to auction off some of the late singer’s clothes for charity.

“As the anniversary of his death approaches, every time the family goes to the dungeon [storage], it’s extremely moving to see her cute dresses hanging on the rails, so we decided to auction these show outfits, ”Winehouse’s father, Mitch, told the UK Daily Mail.

Among the collection’s auction items are the yellow Preen mini dress and iconic heart-shaped Moschino bag that Winehouse wore to the 2007 BRIT Awards – where she performed her hit “Rehab” – as well as the black skirt and orange by Tina Kalivas that she donned for the 2008 Grammys.

The black dress Naomi Parry Winehouse also wore at auction for what was her last public performance in June 2011. The singer died at the age of 27, a month later, on July 23, 2011, due to a alcohol poisoning. .

However, Winehouse’s father also added that “the family decided that we would keep the most precious personal items for us”.

To mark the 10th anniversary of the icon’s death, the BBC will also premiere a memorial documentary titled Amy Winehouse: 10 Years Later. The film is slated for release in July and will examine the singer’s legacy through the eyes of her family.

“I don’t think the world knew the real Amy, the one I raised,” Winehouse’s mother Janis says in the movie trailer. “I look forward to being able to offer an understanding of her roots and a deeper insight into the real Amy.”
